Too pretty to be cold

Ladies - as we are all very aware, the temperature has dropped drastically over the last month. This means bikinis and flip flops are out, and sweaters and slippers are in. But what we really want is to stay warms and look fabulous while doing so. But how do we achieve this? That’s what I’m here for.

Let’s start from the bottom and work our way up. Shoes and socks. I am absolutely obsessed with Ugg at the moment. I recently found that Ugg sells socks as well and they have gone right up to the top of my Christmas wish list. So, Ugg socks to start. Then depending on our outfit, find a good pair of shoes. Since we’re on the topic of Uggs, let’s follow that theme. The classic Ugg Minis are always a winner, and I think they go with absolutely everything. But if we’re looking for more of a chic, elegant look, I was recently in a vintage sale with my friend and we found HEELED  Uggs, fluffy inside, and were tall!! I loved them and told my friend if she ever lost them, not to worry because I was probably wearing them.  Of course there are many other shoes except for Uggs. As much as I had to admit it, I am the tiniest bit basic when it comes to footwear, and I simply go everywhere in my Airforce 1s. But honestly, any trainer could go this winter, because who’s really going to be looking at your feet anyway?

Tights. Tights, tights, tights. I can’t get enough of them. It doesn’t matter what material they are, or what colour, I am obsessed. I’ve seen so many good winter outfits where people are wearing tights under a skirt or a dress, and I love it. And also, there is no excuse to get cold now, because I’m sure everyone has seen that tights hack, where you just layer a pair of skin coloured leggings (fleece lined or not) under your tights, to stay toasty warm!

But if you aren’t really I tights person, I suppose I understand. Jeans are also, of course classic but lovely. Any pair of jeans will do, I don’t think I need to explain jeans to you all, they’re pretty straight forward. At the moment I love flared jeans, because they give a classy, shapely look, and flare at the bottom to give a 70s look. Anything denim is lovely, denim skirts, short or long, denim jackets, anything.

Layering. Layering is very important. I like to start with a really simple base-layer, like a long sleeved, thin, v-neck jumper. (You can find these pretty much anywhere, H&M, Zara, if you’re going a bit pricier, Ralph Lauren). Then go for a big chunky sweater. My favourites come from of course, Brandy Melville, Urban Outfitters, Ralph Lauren, H&M, and I found this amazing girl on instagram who makes lovely jumpers called knitsbydellie. Now for the scarf. I love chunky scarves. I am a big fan of this trend. Either that, or really small scarves. I find Subdued really good for these. Now for the coat. In my other post about what to wear for Christmas parties, I mentioned Afghan coats, but I will mention them again. They are gorgeous, and I truly believe everyone should own one. And then, the classic Northface Puffer. I love them, I’m so glad they’re a thing. The one think I will say is, why does everyone keep buying identical black ones? I think the dark red, and brown ones are a lot nicer than just plain black. But you do you. Okay, now hats, gloves and earmuffs. I love earmuffs, especially if they are super fluffy. To be honest, any earmuffs are good. Then hats are really important. Did you know that most of your body heat is released out of your head? That’s why you always stay super warm with a hat on. Beanies are good, bobble hats are good, any hat is good. And gloves. My favourite pair at the moment is just a fleece pair with faux fur cuffs. They are so classy and elegant, and I wear them everywhere!
