The ‘it’ girls of today

It Girl [noun]: a young woman who has reached celebrity because of her socialite lifestyle.

I think you all know what I mean when I say ‘It Girl’. But for those of you who don’t, let me explain. An It Girl is the girl who everyone wants to be. They are elected by society, and are seen as cool and trendy. If an It Girl says hot girls read Vogue, everyone reads Vogue. If an It Girl says wearing pyjamas to school is cool, then everyone wears pyjamas to school. You get the idea.

But who are the It Girls of this day and age???

LILA MOSS

Yes, she may be a nepotism baby, but who cares? Lila recently came into fame when she began her career as a model, following in her mothers footsteps. She’s been spotted frequently on the front covers of top fashion magazines, on the runway, in gossip magazines, and in Vogue Beauty Secrets. (Girls, there’s no point lying to yourselves, we all know you pretend you’re in Vogue Beauty Secrets when you’re putting on your makeup in the morning). Anyway, we all think she’s super cool, and 100% a model to keep an eye on in the future.

STELLA JONES

Fun, cool, doesn’t give a damn what anyone thinks. Stella Jones is an absolute icon. I love her. I want to be her. Her entire vibe is just completely perfect. Most people know her as Lila Moss’s best friend, but I truly think she is a future supermodel, and could be the next face of many, many famous brands.

LILY-ROSE DEPP

Lily-Rose has been an it girl for a while now. Although she is the literal definition of a nepotism baby, no matter how many times she denies it, she is a fashion icon, and the perfect face to represent Chanel. Lily-Rose has had her moments, but we all want to be her. From dating Timothée Chalamet to being the face of Chanel, she is what the world inspires to be.

IRIS LAW

Iris is absolutely stunning. Inside and out. I adore her TikToks, and the mini vlogs she does, and she genuinely seems like a really fun person to be around. I am absolutely loving her buzz phase, and hope it doesn’t end too soon! Every summer, everyone wants to be just like Iris Law, and I am completely here for it.

MATILDA DJERF

Matilda has only recently received her title as an It Girl, as she gained her fame through her ‘clean girl aesthetic’ TikToks, and inspiring everyone with her seemingly put-together lifestyle. I personally, just really want to achieve the perfection that she does when she does her hair. Why can’t my 90s blowouts look like hers???

BUT HOW DO I BECOME AN IT GIRL?

Here are my top tips:

  • focus on yourself. Don’t stress about what everyone around you is doing, just take everything one day at a time. This way you won’t seem stressed and flustered.
  • TRY HARD AT SCHOOL! This for me is a big one. Have the Blair Waldorf mindset. (And p.s.a if you haven’t watched Gossip Girl, watch it now it’s free on BBC iplayer). If you think smart, you won’t be taken for just some dumb girl who only cares about her looks.
  • Make sure you smell good. Always wear clean clothes and make sure you wash at least every other day, and wash your hair once or twice a week minimum. Find a perfume that smells delish, and spritz a bit of that on every now and then. I also think hand cream is a gift sent from God himself. (Don’t worry I’ll be doing another post about perfume and hand cream).
  • Have a bag that you take everywhere. It doesn’t matter if it’s a handbag or a backpack, just have some kind of bag to keep your important things like money, phone, keys, lipgloss etc into.
